Nikolai N Koval

Nikolay N. Koval was born in 1948. He received the degree in physical electronics from the Tomsk Polytechnic Institute (TPU), Tomsk, Russia, in 1971, and the D.Sc. degree in vacuum and plasma electronics from the Institute of High Current Electronics (IHCE SB RAS), Russian Academy of Sciences, Tomsk, in 2000. He has been working at IHCE SB RAS, since 1977, where he was a Chief Researcher with the Plasma Emission Electronics Laboratory, and a Professor of the Department of Plasma Physics National Research, Tomsk State University (TSU). He has authored or coauthored more than 200 scientific articles, including 10 monographs. Research interests include research on low-pressure discharges, low-temperature plasma generation, plasma emission electronics, generation and transportation of electron beams, and the use of charged particle beams and plasma flows to modify the surface properties of materials and products. Mr. Koval became a Laureate of the Prize of the Government of the Russian Federation, as part of the team of authors, in 2013.
