Azrul Azlan Hamzah (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.S. degree in manufacturing engineering from the University of California (UC) at Berkeley, USA, in 2000, and the Ph.D. degree in microelectromechanical systems from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2008. He is currently pursuing the M.S. degree in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases with the University of Edinburgh, U.K. He is also a Professor of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and the former Director of the Institute of Microengineering and Nanoelectronics (IMEN), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. His research interests include bioMEMS, biomedical devices, artificial kidney, biosensor, and microenergy. He leads several projects funded by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation Malaysia (MOSTI) and the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MoHE) in the development of MEMS and bioMEMS devices. He is a Senior Member of the Electron Devices Society of IEEE Malaysia Section.
