Andrey Stepanov received the M.Sc. degree in radiophysics from the Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod, Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, in 1977, the Ph.D. degree in plasma physics and the Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences degree from the Institute of Applied Physics, Russian Academy of Sciences, Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, in 1986 and 2009, respectively. Since 2003, he has been the Head of Superstrong Laser Fields Laboratory, Institute of Applied Physics, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia. His current research interests include interaction of intense femtosecond laser fields with matter, laser plasma instabilities, THz science, and nonconventional methods of electron acceleration.
