Andrew P. Knights

Andrew P. Knights (Member, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree in solid state physics from the University of East Anglia, Norwich, U.K., in 1994, for research in anti‐matter/matter interactions. After a period of Postdoctoral Research with Western University, London, ON, Canada, and with the University of Surrey, Guildford, U.K., he was a Principal Engineer with Bookham Technology. In 2003, he joined McMaster University's Department of Engineering Physics and founded the McMaster Silicon Photonics Research Group. In 2017, he became the Director of the McMaster Centre for Emerging Device Technologies, and in 2020, became an Associate Vice-President, Research. Since July 2023, he has been the Vice-President Research (Acting). In addition to academic positions he has been a Silicon Architect with Ranovus Inc. of Ottawa since 2012.
