My research interests include small RNAs and their role in a variety of biological processes specifically involved in infectious diseases. My research goal is to identify and develop tools for small RNA analysis, their role in disease pathology and their impact on cellular gene regulation. To that effect, I extensively utilize computational tools for small RNA target identification and combine experimental approaches to answer those predictions. My long term objective is to develop tools for real time monitoring of small RNA activity in cells during infection processes for respiratory viruses in children. On a side note, I explore, utilize and combine methodologies for knowledge representation to make visualization of complex biological information easier to understand and interpret.
