Bio
Adrian Dobroiu received the Graduation degree from the University of
Bucharest, Bucharest, Romania, in 1994, where he also received the Ph.D. degree in physics with a thesis on
self-calibrating algorithms in phase-shift interferometry, in 1999.
After research work in interferometry at the National Institute for Laser, Plasma and Radiation Physics, Bucharest,
he moved to Japan and worked on optical coherence tomography at Yamagata University. He then went on to join Terahertz
Research teams at the Institute for Physical and Chemical Research, RIKEN, Tokyo, Japan, where he did investigations
in terahertz imaging. Since 2012, he has been with the Research Institute of Electrical Communication, Tohoku
University, Sendai, Japan, as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, where he works on the experimental verification of a
theory for a graphene terahertz laser. His more general research interests also include applications of the terahertz
radiation, in particular imaging.
