Dr. Alain Garnier is a member of the Stem Cell Network of Excellence of Canada and a biochemical engineer with 30-year expertise in bioprocess engineering. He has developed, optimized and scaled-up processes for enzymatic, bacterial and yeast bio-reaction, established cell lines, primary and stem cell cultures, animal and human. He has developed a high-throughput platform for the design and optimization of cell culture media and processes, based on the combination of statistical design of experiment (DOE), fluid handling stations, automated microscopy and multivariate statistics. He has also developed an approach for the fractionation and screening of biological fluids such as blood serum and conditioned medium as well as bioproduct purification. He is a member of CSChE, AIChE, ACS, PROTEO, TheCell, ATGQ and LOOP. He is or has collaborated with GSK, Merck, Sanofi-Pasteur, NRC, Hema-Quebec, Metanature, LOEX, Oleotek, Silicycle and Feldan.
