Bio
Anand works with the Distributed Information and Automation Laboratory (DIAL) of the Institute for Manufacturing at the University of Cambridge, UK. He is a Research Associate at the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM) and PdRA member at Trinity Hall, University of Cambridge, UK. He is a member of IEEE and ACM, and also serves as the Vice-chair of IEEE-P1954 Standards Committee of the IEEE Standards Association, Associate Editor of Springer Nature’s PPNA and is an Area expert in IEEE ComSoc SIG on IoT for e-Health.
He works on smart and self-aware monitoring systems. His research interests include Aerial IoT, UAVs, Aerial swarms, Industry 4.0, Industrial IoT, IoT architectures, digital transformation, IoT sensing, IoT communications, and networked robots. His team works closely with many UK-based small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across diverse manufacturing domains and consults them on their digital transformation journey towards Industry 4.0. He also looks into how typical digitization solutions in manufacturing industries can be easily transformed and repurposed for quick use across healthcare, logistics, and construction industries.
Anand holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, India, and a Master’s degree in Microelectronics & VLSI Design from West Bengal University of Technology, India. His Ph.D. focused on conceptualizing, designing, and implementing various data and computation offloading and run-time optimizing solutions for UAVs and UAV networks. Many of his systems and works have been covered in print and televised media.
He frequently serves in different capacities in various renowned international conferences, has been invited for keynote lectures, and regularly talks at different academic and industrial venues on his works in the domain of UAVs, IoT, and recently Industry 4.0. Anand has given keynotes, panel talks, invited talks, and lectures across UK and India. Till date, he has a total of more than 70 referred scientific publications in IEEE and Elsevier transactions/journals and some of the most coveted conferences, such as IEEE INFOCOM, WCNC, ICC, and GLOBECOM. He is the author of two textbooks on IoT and Industrial IoT from Cambridge University Press and CRC press, respectively. He has more than 650 citations with an h-index of 15 (Google Scholar) till date. He regularly serves as a peer reviewer in more than 30 highly impactful IEEE Transactions, and other IEEE, Elsevier, Springer, and Wiley journals.
