Andreas Knorr

Andreas Knorr was born on April 14, 1965 in Erfurt, Germany. He received the Diploma degree in physics and the Ph.D. degree from Friedrich-Schiller University, Jena, Germany. From 1991 to 1992, he was a Visiting Scholar at both the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, and the University of Arizona, Tucson. During 1994–2000, he was a Research Associate at the University of Marburg, Germany. Since 2000, he has been a Professor of theoretical physics at the Technische Universität Berlin, Germany. During 2003–2004, he was a Guest Professor at the University of Arizona and at NTT, Tokyo, Japan. Since 2004, he has held the position of Vice Chairman of the Collaborative Research Center “Growth Related Properties of Semiconductor Nanostructures” and “Nanophotonics.” During 1991–1993, he was a Fellow of Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes. He is the author of over 100 research publications and has over 30 invited presentations at international conferences. His research interests include nonlinear optics, quantum electronics, laser theory, and dynamics of low-dimensional nanostructures.
