Dr. Walther's research goal is to establish multimodal therapies for depression specifically tailored to men. Both, pharmacological approaches (such as testosterone therapy) and male-specific psychotherapy concepts are being systematically evaluated for improved treatment effectiveness in depression in men. Early detection of depressive syndromes in men is a central goal, which is additionally pursued by means of new neurobiological and behavioral methods, as well as psychometric instruments.
