The natural sciences have always fascinated me, and I am convinced that science can help us to live a more intelligent, confident and healthier life. I have specialized on the investigation and bioengineering of light-sensitive membrane proteins (optogenetics). We are now trying to use optogenetics for the treatment of movement disorders, especially Parkinson's disease. I am also very interested in marine biology, limnology and geology, but these are currently more scientific hobbies.
