M. Ashok Kumar (S’10–M’16) received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Mathematics from the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, India, in 1999 and 2001, respectively. During 2001-2007, he taught mathematics in various educational institutions in India. In 2015, he obtained the PhD degree in the department of electrical communication engineering of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. He was a visiting scientist at the Stat- Math unit of the Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore from December 2014 to May 2015, and afterwards he was a post-doctoral fellow at the Andrew and Erna Viterbi faculty of electrical engineering, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Israel from May 2015 to December 2015. Since January 2016, he has been an Assistant Professor in the Discipline of Mathematics of the Indian Institute of Technology Indore. His research interests broadly lie in information theory and statistics. He is especially interested in information measures, statistical inference, and information geometry.
