Dr. B. Uma Reddy is an Associate Professor at Vijayanagara SriKrshnadevaraya University, India. She received her Ph.D. in Botany (specialized in phytochemistry and pharmacology) from Gulbarga University (2001). Also conducted part of her Ph.D. work at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. Further, she has continued her carrier as a Post-Doctoral Research Scientist in the Department of Microbiology and Cell Biology, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (2010-2019), and did her extensive research in the area of Molecular Virology and liver targeted delivery of nanoparticles. Also published her research work in Scientific Reports (NPG), Nanoscale (RSC), Antiviral Research (Elsevier), Journal of Biophysics (Cell Press), ACS Omega, ACS Applied Biomaterials also filed several patents and published few of them into the Journal of Indian Patent Office from her investigations. During her academic carrier, she received several awards, research grants, honours, and appreciation from prestigious scientific organizations and Government funding agencies – DST, DBT, CSIR-NEIST. In addition, she trained the research techniques in the areas of molecular biology, Genetics, and Nanobiotechnology to several University teachers and medical professionals across the country in the National level Refresher programs and hands-on training workshops sponsored by IASc, INSA, NASc, RGUHS, India. Her lab’s recent work has defined the exploring the novel, safe and effective therapeutics and their molecular insights of active plant-based antiviral drug molecules to solve the problems of pathogenic viral infections and their consequences.
