Simona Badilescu

Simona Badilescu received the Ph.D. degree from the University of Bucharest, Bucharest, Romania, specializing in molecular spectroscopy, surface science, and analytical applications of infrared spectroscopy. She is a Senior Scientist with a background in physical chemistry and experience in teaching and research. She had several years of experience in industry as the Director of the Spectroscopy Department, Petrochemical Company, Timisoara, Romania. After three years as an Associate Professor with the University of Blida, Blida, Algeria, she was a Research Associate with the Chemistry Department, Universite de Montreal, Montreal, QC, Canada. Since 1987, she has been part of an Interdisciplinary Group, University of Moncton, Moncton, NB, Canada, working on attenuated total reflection spectroscopy of thin film systems. She was a Professor of chemistry with the University of Moncton and later a Senior Scientist with the Physics Department. She joined the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in 2002 and since then, she has been part of the Nanomaterials and Devices Laboratory and contributed to different projects related to biosensing. She is currently a part of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Nanomaterials and Nanodevices Laboratory. She has published two books and several book chapters, mainly on topics related to spectroscopy. She is the author of more than 200 articles and conference papers. Her current research interests include vibrational spectroscopy of molecules of biological interest. Dr. Badilescu is a member of several professional societies and a reviewer for journals, such as the Journal of Physical Chemistry, Applied Physics Letters, and Advanced Materials.
