Anatoly V Belov

Anatoly V. Belov received the Ph.D. degree in astrophysics from the Institute of Terrestrial Magnetism, Ionosphere and Radio Wave Propagation, IZMIRAN, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, in 1980. He left the Physical Faculty of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, in 1969. He joined the IZMIRAN, Russian Academy of Sciences, where he served as a Junior Scientist from 1969 to 1981, Senior Scientist 1981 to 1994, and head of the Cosmic Ray Variation Laboratory from 1994 to the present. His scientific interests include: the study of the galactic and solar cosmic ray variations, ground level enhancements (GLEs), Forbush effects, cosmic ray anisotropy, and solar wind interaction with cosmic rays. His focus is on improving the theory of cosmic ray anisotropy, and on developing the methods of calculation of the cosmic ray anisotropy and gradients in the space by the ground level and space craft observations. The methods of “ring stations” and pitch angle distribution of the cosmic rays in the space are offered and intensively applied to the study of interaction cosmic rays with the solar wind disturbances. At present, he is also focused on the problem of Space Weather, in particular, of the satellite anomalies and their relation to different space environmental parameters.
