Birgit Stiller received the M.Sc. degree in physics and mathematics from the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg, Erlangen, Germany, in 2008, and the Ph.D. degree in nonlinear fiber optics at the CNRS Research Institute FEMTO-ST, Besançon, France, in 2011. Since October 2012, she has been a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light, Erlangen, Germany. Her research interests include nonlinear fiber optics, in particular Brillouin scattering and phase-sensitive amplifiers, nonlinear effects in photonic crystal fibers, as well as quantum communication, specifically quantum receivers and secure communication. Dr. Stiller received the Ohm Prize for her Master thesis in 2009 and the A’Doc Prize for her doctoral thesis in 2011,and the Cusanuswerk Scholarship from the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg. She is a Member of the German Physical Society (DPG).
