CONCETTA GIANCOLA is Full Professor of Physical Chemistry at "Federico II" University of Napoli. She was born in Campobasso (Italy) on April, 10th, 1959, and in December 1983 she graduated in Chemistry discussing a thesis on "Synthesis, purification and characterisation of peptides", under the supervision of prof. E. Benedetti. In 1984 she joined the group of prof. Guido Barone at the Department of Chemistry of the same University, working on a research project involving the synthesis and characterization of model peptides. In 1985 she collaborated with the research group of prof. Lucio Senatore at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Pisa on a research project dealing with the synthesis and physico-chemical characterisation of vanadium complexes. From 1986 to 1987 she was a postgraduate fellow of the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (C.N.R.) in Pisa. In 1992 she received her Ph.D. in Chemistry at "Federico II" University of Napoli, discussing a thesis on "Thermodynamic studies of conformational stability of proteins" under the supervision of prof Guido Barone. In 1991 she was appointed Assistant Professor of Physical Chemistry at University of Napoli Federico II, where in 2001 she became Associate Professor and in 2017 Full Professor.
