He researches and develops radiotherapy in its broadest sense. Radiotherapy is one of the most important pillars in cancer treatment. His area of interest is mainly at the interface of technology/physics and patient care, in particular the treatment of eye melanomas with proton irradiation. Due to its relatively rare application, proton irradiation is an area where many innovations are still possible; HollandPTC and the collaboration in the triangle LUMC/TU Delft/Erasmus MC have created an opportunity for innovative demand-driven development and improvement of knowledge and outcomes of cancer treatment. Together with TU Delft's TNW faculty, innovative research is being conducted in the field of radio(proton) therapy.
