I am a scientific researcher with an educational basis in Molecular Cell Biology and Neuroscience, I am interested in unraveling the mechanisms behind neurodegenerative diseases and unveiling strategies aiming at countering their development. Until now my work has focused on Machado-Joseph disease, a hereditary disorder with particular prevalence in Portugal. As part of my research I have employed a diverse array of techniques, ranging from enzymatic assays, immunodetection methods and microscopy to the generation of animal models of disease.
