As bacterial geneticist, I have always been interested in understanding the dynamics of bacterial genomes and the role played by mobile genetic elements. This drove me to work on the relationship between mobile elements, their mobility mechanisms and regulation, and environmental conditions permissive to their mobility. This became particularly relevant in the context of the antibiotic resistance gene dissemination when stimulated by antibiotics at sub-CMI, in an ecolocical perspective.
