Chung Lam

Chung received his B.Sc. at Polytechnic University of New York in 1978, his M.Sc. and Ph.D. at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1987 and 1988, all in Electrical Engineering. Joined IBM in 1978, Chung has worked in semiconductor research, development and manufacturing including circuit and device designs, process integrations for memory and logic applications. Chung was named IBM Distinguished Engineers in 2007. In the same year he was named Master Inventor in IBM. He has more than 260 granted US patents and authored/co-authored more than 100 technical papers. He served in various technical committees, including International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductor (ITRS) Devices Committee, IEEE International Electron Device Meeting (IEDM) Memory Technology Committee, etc. He retired from IBM Research at the end of 2016. In 2018, he joined Advanced Memory Technology in Huaiyin, Jiangsu, China as Chief Technology Officer leading Research and Development with offices in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Beijing and Huaiyin. Retired again in 2020 due to the pandemic. Coming out of retirement in July 2022 to join Green Mountain Semiconductor in Burlington, Vermont as a Technology Specialist to lead a neuromorphic computing project.
