Calvin Coopmans (Member, IEEE) received the B.S. degree in computer engineering from Montana State University, Bozeman, MT, USA, in 2004 and the M.S and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Utah State University, Logan, UT, USA, in 2010 and 2014, respectively. After holding a Postdoctoral position with Utah State University, he joined the faculty as a Research Assistant Professor. He has been the Director with the AggieAir Remote Aerial Sensing Group, Utah State University, since 2014, and has experience in space-borne mission design, small satellite engineering, and ground and aerial field robotics. His research interests include field-ready autonomous systems architectures, cyber-physical systems, mechatronic control systems, aeronautical engineering, assistive mobility, image processing, electric power systems for mobile and aerial robots, batteries for power storage and management, as well as battery testing and battery safety certification.
