Research interest:
- Microscopic structure-property relationships in semiconductor devices by means of scanning and transmission electron microscopy and their related techniques
- Correlative microscopy approaches

He has authored and coauthored two book chapters and about 100 peer-reviewed articles, as well as co-edited a handbook on advanced characterization techniques for thin-film solar cells. In the past ten years, he has organized various Young Scientist Tutorials on this topic for MRS and E-MRS Spring Meetings. His research interest focuses on the characterization of thin-film semiconductor devices by means of scanning and transmission electron microscopy techniques, in particular on their combinations on identical sample positions.,Dr. Abou-Ras received the MRS Graduate Student Gold Award during the 2005 MRS Spring Meeting.
