I believe in integrating good science to solve the real-world problems faced by those working in agriculture and the environment. This is demonstrated by my research in three soil-related themes, being; what is the role of global soil security in addressing some of the existential global sustainability challenges, how can models of the soil (including soil structure) be developed to assess the communities need for a functional soil and, fundamental questions such as ‘how to assess the energy involved in soil aggregation affecting soil structure in agroecosystems?’. I am also passionate about education and believe that by linking good research with teaching, as well as, involving the broader community, we can promote an environment where students can actively engage in learning.
