Daniel Jeffares is interested in using the methods of molecular evolution to understand genes, genomes and organismal evolution. Initially his interest was in the early evolution of life in the RNA World, and the evolution of introns. At the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute he studies evolution and selection in Plasmodium parasite genomes. He currently works on genetic variation and selection in the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe.
