David Boon is an Engineering Geologist with over 12 years experience in applied geology. He has worked at the British Geological Survey since 2005 in the Nottingham and Cardiff Offices. His current research focus is geohazards (landslide hazard and processes) and shallow geothermal energy (ground source heat pumps). He borrows techniques from geotechnical engineering to characterize geological deposits and their variability mostly for practical purposes. He is currently consulting on landslide issues in the UK, Sierra Leone, Kyrgryz Republic and Nepal. He is also developing tools and techniques to help manage urban shallow geothemal energy use in the UK with Cardiff Council and InnovateUK, and more widely with EU partners under the H2020 GeoERA MUSE project.
