A long-standing question puzzling me is whether there is a root economic spectrum, similar or opposite to that in leaves, stems, branches, fruits and/or seeds. Currently, I focus on the functional and evolutionary relationships between roots and their symbiont microbes (e.g., mycorrhizal fungi, rhizobia). I’m also interested in the overarching topics such as on biodiversity and ecosystem functions, global change ecology, patterns of root and mycorrhizas across spatial-temporal scale, etc.
