Demosthenes Polyzos was born in Karditsa, Greece, in 1958. He received the Diploma and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Patras, Patras, Greece, in 1981 and 1987, respectively. Since 1982, he has been in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics, University of Patras, where he is currently a Professor. He has published more than 65 papers in scientific journals and more than 120 papers in books and international conferences. His research interests include computational mechanics and micromechanics, computational modeling in bioengineering and scientific computing.
