Ernie Ihloff received the bachelor's degree in mechanical/manufacturing engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY, USA, in 1983, the M.M.S. degree in management studies from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, MA, USA, in 1992 and the M.B.A. degree in business administration from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst MA, USA, in 2011. His career started with Analog Devices as an Equipment Engineer on wafer fabrication process equipment. He joined MIT Bates Linear Accelerator Center, in 1986 as a Mechanical Engineer working in the area of mechanical design, vacuum, and cryogenics. He was an Associate Group Leader of Mechanical Engineering and then Electrical Group Leader with the MIT Bates Linear Accelerator Center. He has designed equipment for high voltage, high vacuum, cryogenics, electromagnets, homeland security, and proton therapy. He is currently a Principal Research Engineer working on equipment for Nuclear Physics experiments, MIT Bates Research and Engineering Center. He became a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in 1994 in the state of New Hampshire, USA.
