Bio
Prof. Ph.D. Fabio Aricò is an associate Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Department of Environmental Sciences and Informatics, Ca’ Foscari University (Italy). During his career, he has gained experience in various fields of organic chemistry ranging from supramolecular chemistry (postdoctoral fellow in the group of Nobel Laureate Sir Fraser Stoddart), nanotechnology, material chemistry and green chemistry.
Prof. Aricò is the leader of a Green chemistry group that counts at the moment four PhD students and several master and bachelor degree students. He covers several positions within Ca’ Foscari University including Department Delegate For International Activities and he is one of the Rector Delegates For Internationalization Activities.
He has published ca 80 scientific peer-reviewed papers and holds 3 granted patents. His main research interest are within the field of Organic chemistry (Organic carbonates; heterocycles), Green Chemistry (Biorefinery, bio-based platform chemicals (isosorbide, HMF, alkyl levulinate, etc) , Green solvents, Chlorine-free reactions). He has taken part as speaker and in some cases invited speaker to more than sixty national and international conferences.
He is Associate Editor of Sustainable Chemistry & Pharmacy and acts as Member of the Editorial Board of Current Opinion in Green and Sustainable Chemistry (Elsevier) and “Current Research in Green and Sustainable Chemistry” (Elsevier). He is also part of the reviewer board of “Sustainable Chemistry” (MDPI).
Over the last ten years he has collaborated with international and national industrial partners and organization including among the others: the Imperial Chemical Industries, Givaudan and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
Prof. Aricò has been recently awarded Experienced Chemist award by IUPAC-NHU International award for Advancement in Green Chemistry in recognition of his work on chlorine-free approaches for biorefinery development.
