Grigori D Shirkov

Grigory D. Shirkov was born in Nizhni Novgorod, Russia, in 1952. He received the degree from Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow, Russia, in 1976, and the Ph.D. and D.Sc. degrees in physics and mathematics in 1982 and 1993, respectively. He has been with the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR), Dubna, Russia, since 1976, as a Junior Researcher, a Researcher, a Senior Researcher, the Head of Sector, the Head of the Department, and a Chief Engineer. His research interests are theory and numerical simulation of multicharged ion sources, processes of production, and accumulation of multicharged ions in electron beams and hot plasma, dynamics, and transportation of multicomponent beams of charged particles. Since 2003, he has been a Professor of the Chair of Electronics for Physics Facilities at the Moscow State Institute of Radio Engineering, Electronics and Automation, Moscow. Prof. Shirkov is a Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Science. He is a member of the ILC International Coordinating Committee (Global Design Effort Committee) and RAS Scientific Council on accelerators of charged particles. He was a Laureate of the Award for young scientists of the Moscow Region in 1987, and was a recipient of the Academician Kurchatov Medal of Rosatom.
