Gabriele Minatti was born in Florence, Italy, in 1982. He received the M.Sc. degree (cum laude) in electronic engineering from the University of Florence, Florence, in 2008, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Siena, Siena, Italy, in 2012. From 2012 to 2014, he was an Internal Research Fellow with the Antennas and Sub-Millimeter Waves Section, European Space Agency, Noordwijk, The Netherlands. From 2015 to 2017, he was a Research Assistant with the University of Siena, mainly working on the modeling, analysis, and design of metasurface antennas. He is currently serving as an Antenna Engineer with Wave Up S.r.l, Siena. Dr. Minatti was a co-recipient of the Best Paper Award on Antenna Theory at the 5th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP), Rome, Italy, in 2011, the Antenna Innovation Award at the 33rd ESA Antenna Workshop (ESTEC), Noordwijk, in 2011, the Student Paper Contest at 17th International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation (ISAP), Nagoya, Japan, in 2012, the IEEE Schelkunoff Prize Paper Award, in 2016, and the Best Paper Award in Antenna Design and Application at the 11th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP), Paris, France, in 2017.
