My current research focusses on the mitochondrial electron transport chain activity in the developing and adult heart. Are a physiological regulation of the permeability transition pore and the activity of mitochondrial electron transport related events? If yes, what are the regulating components? What is the role of cyclophilin D? How is cyclophilin d regulated? We use the expression and knockout of cyclophilin d in a mouse model. We investigate the role of cyclophilin d using a variety of biochemical methods (IP, WB, oxygen consumption, activity assays).
