I am currently Head of the Cairns Clinical School of the James Cook University Medical School. I was previously the inaugural Professor of Paediatrics and Child Health Research at the University of Wollongong, NSW. I hold honorary/conjoint professorial; positions at University of Queensland and University of Newcastle. My Lab is currently within the Illawarra Health and Medical Research Institute and The University of Queensland centre for Clinical Research, with a focus on the mechanisms of microvascular and gasotransmitter control, particularly in the preterm infant. I have an extensive clinical and research interest in the care and outcomes for infants of drug using mothers. I contribute to the design, delivery and interpretation of local, national and international trials, mainly around newborn care.
