Ilker Hacihaliloglu

Ilker Hacihaliloglu received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Istanbul Technical University, Istanbul, Turkey, in 2001 and 2004, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, Canada, in 2010, respectively. He was a Faculty Member with the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ, USA, and an Adjunct Faculty Member with the Department of Radiology from 2014 to 2021. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor with the Departments of Radiology and Medicine, University of British Columbia. His research is aimed at developing innovative machine-learning methods for processing various medical image data with a clinical focus in neurosurgery, liver disease, orthopedic surgery, lung disease, and interventional radiology. He is specifically interested in decentralizing healthcare (out-of-hospital care) by applying point-of-care ultrasound for out-of-hospital risk assessment to enable a more personal, accessible, and connected healthcare. Dr. Hacihaliloglu was awarded the prestigious Mathematics of Information Technology and Complex Systems (MITACS)—NCE Strategic Postdoctoral Scholarship in 2010. He was a recipient of the 2017 North American Spine Society Young Investigator Award. He has served as a Program Committee Member, an Area Chair, and a Session Chair for MICCAI, IPCAI, CAOS meetings.
