Bio

My research involves multidisciplinary collaborations and epidemiological studies aimed at unravelling the underlying causes of the excess risk of type 2 diabetes in South Asians and other ethnic groups. Besides understanding the differential contribution of conventional factors to the disease risk, my interest lies in investigating the role of novel risk factors, specifically the effects of lipotoxicity and the role of infections.
