The research of the Surface Science Lab at TU Darmstadt focuses on the preparation and characterization of well-defined functional (model) materials with application in renewable energy conversion and storage. Topics include (photo)electrochemical production of Solar Fuels , photovoltaics and batteries. Modern spectroscopic and microscopic methods are used to gain insight into interface energetics of energy conversion and storage devices as well as structure-activity relationships and mechanistic details of heterogeneously catalyzed reactions.
