I am currently working in the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine at Washington State University-Spokane. Previously I discovered and characterized the unique time-of-day cycling of the astrocyte-enriched brain-type fatty-acid binding protein (Fabp7) in mammalian brain (Gerstner et al., 2006; Gerstner et al., 2008), which cycles in-phase brain-wide. Currently I am assessing the circadian rhythm and sleep behavior in Fabp7 KO mice and the role of Fabp within astrocytes of Alzheimer's flies.
