Dr. Javed Ahmed Ujan is the head of the Zoology Department at Shah Abdul Latif University in Khairpur, Sindh, Pakistan. He is a renowned academician in the field of zoology. His field of specialization is molecular genetics (cattle genetics). He possesses more than 10 years of teaching and research experience at the post-PhD level in his field since joining the Department of Zoology at SALU, Khairpur, on May 14, 2012. Marker-assisted characterization of beef cattle production, from calving and raising calves to finishing and meat quality and quantity traits, is what he is interested in and good at. Dr. Ahmed's scholarly contributions include One complete book, one book chapter, popular articles, and research papers published in high-impact factor, internationally reputed journals with 215 citation scores, H-index 9, i10-index 6 and one Australian innovative patent Aside from being a scholar, Dr. Ujan has been in charge of the Department of Zoology as Chairman since March 30, 2022. He has also worked as a warden at the Sachal Sarmast Hostel in Khairpur and as the focal person in charge of Pakistan Qualification Registration (PQR) at SALU University. The Department of Animal Sciences at Quaid-e-Azam University in Islamabad, Pakistan, is where Dr. Javed got his master's degree. He holds a degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Animal Genetics, Breeding & Reproduction Sciences from Northwest A & F University, China, with eminence and multiple awards, including but not limited to the Young Scientist Award by the International Union of Biological Sciences (IUBS), Best Researcher Awards, Chinese Language Award (2008–2012), and became one of the youngest PhDs in Pakistan. Dr. Ujan was recently accepted for a Fulbright Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Florida in the United States in 2023.
