Jayan Thomas received the Ph.D. degree in material science from Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi, India, in 1996. After working as a Research Associate with the International School of Photonics, Cochin University of Science and Technology, in 2001, he joined the College of Optical Sciences, University of Arizona, Tucson, where he is currently an Assistant Research Professor. His current research interests include photorefractive polymers, nonlinear optical materials, magnetooptic materials, nanoimprinting techniques, optical limiting devices, photonic crystals, nanoarchitectured solar cells, and nanostructured Li-ion batteries and supercapacitors. He has served as a reviewer for several scientific journals and authored or coauthored approximately 50 scientific papers and a book chapter on photorefractive polymers. Dr. Thomas is a member of the American Association of Advancement of Science (AAAS). His professional activities include organizing SPIE Conference on Linear and Nonlinear Optics of Organic Materials. He was the recipient of a Dr. S. Krishnan Fellowship while at the Cochin University of Science and Technology.
