Joachim Ritter

Joachim Ritter studied Geophysics at the University of Karlsruhe (TH) (1985-1991) and received his doctorate there at the Faculty of Physics (1996). From 1991 to 1997 he was a research associate (seismic tomography in East Africa and seismic scattering in the Massif Central) and managing director of two collaborative research centers (CRC 108 and CRC 461). In 1993 and 1994 he conducted research at the USGS in Menlo Park (Ca.) for a tomography study on the Medicine Lake volcano. From 1997 to 2001 Joachim Ritter was at the Georg-August-University in Göttingen as project leader for the seismological experiment of the Eifel-Plume project and habilitated there in 2002 at the Faculty of Physics. Since 2002 he has been back at the University of Karlsruhe (from 2009 KIT), where he was appointed as professor in 2017.
