Jose Martin Hernandez-Ayon is a fulltime researcher at the Instituto de Investigaciones Oceanologicas (OII) of the University of Baja California (UABC); he is member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers (NSI) and his is also committee member of the Mexican Carbon Program. He received his Ph.D. in Coastal Oceanography from the UABC School of Marine Sciences in 2000 and after his degree he did a post-doctoral studies at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography, University of California, San Diego, USA. His research centers around the role of coastal oceans ecosystems in the global carbon cycle, including ocean acidification (OA) in coastal ecosystems, interactions between OA and other natural or anthropogenic stressors as hypoxia, climate change, and air-sea CO2
