Bio
Juan Gomez-Cruz (Member, IEEE) received the B.Sc. degree in communications and electronics engineering from Instituto Politécnico Nacional, Mexico, the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Mexico (UNAM), and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering and chemical engineering from UNAM and Queen’s University, Canada, respectively. He is currently a Mitacs Industrial Postdoctoral Fellow with Queen’s University and Spectra Plasmonics Inc. During his Ph.D. degree, he worked on the development of biosensors based on plasmonic effects in nanostructured metallic films. His research focuses on the theoretical and experimental design and construction of highly sensitive, handheld sensing platforms based on surface plasmon resonance for point-of-care diagnostics.
