Julien Bonefacino received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electronic, electrotechnic, and automatism from the University of Montpellier, Montpellier, France, in 2009 and 2011, respectively, with a focus on optoelectronic and microwave, and the Ph.D. degree from the Photonics Research Centre, Electrical Engineering Department, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, in 2017. Since 2017, he has been a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Electrical Engineering Department, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. During his studies, he has worked on the implementation and test of the radio communication board of the student nano-satellite ROBUSTA developed in the University of Montpellier in partnership with the CNES and ESA. From 2011 to 2012, he has been a Research Assistant with the Photonics Research Centre, Electrical Engineering Department, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research interests include fiber optic sensing in batteries, polymer optical fibers for biomedical applications, fabrication of photosensitive polymer optical fiber, polymer optical fiber Bragg gratings, and material characterization. Dr. Bonefacino received the Hong Kong Ph.D. Fellowship Scholarship for his Ph.D. studies in 2013.
