Karel Kolacek

Karel Kolacek received the RNDr. degree from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University in Prague, Prague, Czech Republic, in 1965. He received the Ph.D. degree from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague, Prague, in 1976. Since 1965, he has been with the Institute of Plasma Physics (IPP), Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Prague, where he was the Head of the Pulse Plasma Systems Department from 2001 to 2015. In the beginning, he worked in low-temperature plasma (plasma in crossed fields) and later in high-temperature plasma (interaction of relativistic electron beam with plasma, Z-pinch, exploding wire in water, and pulse high-current capillary discharge for generation of coherent extreme ultraviolet radiation). Dr. Kolacek was a member and the Chairman of the Scientific Council of IPP. He is currently a member of the International Scientific Committee of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) International Centre for Dense Magnetized Plasma (ICDMP). He is also the Chairman of the Foundation of the ICDMP.
