Dr. Doran's research areas of expertise include homelessness, supportive housing, social determinants of health, substance use, frequent emergency department use, reasons for emergency department use, and high-cost patients. Her research on homelessness and emergency department use has been published in journals including the American Journal of Public Health, Medical Care, and Annals of Emergency Medicine. She previously served as an advisor to the New York State Department of Health on an innovative program to use Medicaid to fund supportive housing, described in an article she co-authored in the New England Journal of Medicine.
