Dr. Keping Xie is currently professor of pathology and immunology in the South China University of Technology School of Medicine and the inaugural director for South China University of Technology Comprehensive Cancer Center. Pursuing his PhD studies in immunology and cancer biology under Dr. Isaiah J. Fidler, Dr. Xie spent 8 years with Dr. Fidler on cancer metastasis, half the time as a graduate student and half the time as a junior faculty. In 1997, Dr. Xie joined the Department of Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology and Digestive Diseases at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center as a tenure-tracked Assistant Professor of Medicine and Cancer Biology and was promoted all the way to tenured Professor of Medicine and Cancer Biology. Dr. Xie was the project leader of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center SPORE in Pancreatic Cancer. In 2011, Dr. Xie joined the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at the same institution, serving as Chief of Gastroenterology Research and was later promoted to the Vice Chairman for Research. In 2018, Dr. Xie was recruited to the University of Arizona College of Medicine at Phoenix as tenured Professor of Cancer Biology and Chairman at the Department of Interdisciplinary Oncology and also Professor of Medicine and Deputy Chairman for Research at the Department of Internal Medicine. For more than 40 years of cancer research career, Dr. Xie has authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications and known for his work on gastrointestinal cancers, particularly pancreatic cancer.
