His research areas broadly cover the various aspects in the interfacing field of “Air Quality & Environmental Engineering” in connection with “Material Engineering” with emphasis on advanced novel materials like Coordination Polymers, especially Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs). He was awarded as one of the top 10 National Star Faculties in Korea in 2006 and became an academician (Korean Academy of Science and Technology) in 2018. He has been recognized as ‘Highly Cited Researcher (HCR)’ for 2019 in Environment & Ecology field from Clarivate Analytics.
