His research interests focus on novel biomaterials for orthopedic applications and mechanistic study on cell-material interactions. He has authored 1 book, 3 book chapters, over 30 peer-reviewed journal papers and 8 patents. He is an Associated Editor of the International Journal of Nanomedicine, Editorial Member of the Nano Bulletin and serves on the review panels of over 30 international research journals. He is also the recipient of a number of awards, including the National 1000 Young Talents (China), the Fresh Face Young Scientist of Sigma Xi (USA), the Society For Biomaterials Student Award for Outstanding Research (USA), the Materials Research Society Graduate Student Silver Award (USA) and the Chinese Government Award For Outstanding Students Abroad.
