Bio
Leonid Reznik (M'94) was born in Leningrad, Russia. He received the B.S. and M.Eng. degrees in computer control systems from the Leningrad Aircraft Academy, Leningrad, Russia, in 1978 and the Ph.D. degree in information and measurement systems from the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute in 1983, as well as a Graduate Certificate in higher education from Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia, in 2002.
He has worked in both industry and academia in the areas of computer science and control, system, software, and information engineering. From 1978 to 1988, he was with the National Institute of Electrical Measuring Instruments, St. Petersburg, Russia; from 1988–1989 he worked for the National Institute of Shipbuilding Technology, Russia; from 1989–1992 for Joint Venture “Interquadro” from 1992–2002 for the School of Communications and Informatics, Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia. Since 2002 he has been a Professor of computer science at the Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY. In 1998 he was a Visiting Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Monash University, Australia and in 2002 at the Department of Computer Science, University of Texas at El Paso. He is an author of the textbook Fuzzy Controllers (Elsevier-Butterworth-Heinemann, 1997) and an editor of Fuzzy System Design: Social and Engineering Applications (Physica Verlag, 1998) and Soft Computing in Measurement and Information Acquisition (Springer, 2003). His main research interests are in theory and design of intelligent measurement and control systems and sensor networks.
